GCP VPC: global by design, not regional

GCP's most distinctive networking feature: VPCs are global. One VPC spans every Google Cloud region. You create subnets per region, but they all belong to the same network — no peering, no transit gateways needed to connect us-east1 to europe-west1.

A VM in Iowa talks to a VM in Belgium over internal IPs using Google's private backbone. This simplifies multi-region architectures dramatically compared to AWS (where each VPC is regional and cross-region traffic requires peering or Transit Gateway) or Azure (where VNets are regional).
