SLAAC: self-configuring IPv6 addresses

IPv6 was designed so devices can configure their own addresses without any server — no DHCP needed. This is called SLAAC (Stateless Address Autoconfiguration, RFC 4862).

The process: derive a link-local address → check for duplicates (DAD) → ask for a router prefix (RS/RA) → form a global address → done.
