Beyond destination-based routing

Normal IP routing forwards packets based solely on the destination address — looking up the best match in the routing table. But sometimes you want more control: send VoIP traffic through the low-latency link, bulk traffic through the cheap link, management traffic through a dedicated path.

Policy-Based Routing evaluates traffic against match criteria and applies a forwarding action — overriding the routing table.
