HTTP vs HTTPS

HTTP sends data in plain text — anyone on the network can read it. Your ISP, a hacker on the same WiFi, a government — all can see your passwords, credit card numbers, everything.

HTTPS = HTTP over TLS (Transport Layer Security). TLS encrypts the connection so only your browser and the server can read the data. The padlock 🔒 means TLS is active.
