The castle-and-moat model is broken

Traditional security assumes: inside the network = trusted. A firewall protects the perimeter. Once you're inside (via VPN or physically on the LAN), you can reach most resources.

This model breaks in the modern world: - Remote work: the perimeter is everywhere - Cloud: apps aren't inside anymore - Insider threats: compromised credentials = full access - Lateral movement: malware spreads once inside

Zero Trust principle: "Never trust, always verify." Every request is authenticated, authorized, and encrypted — regardless of source.
